RMS has partnered with a prominent automotive company in the UK specialising in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, and Storage. We are currently in search of rail wagon maintenance technicians to aid in the inspection and servicing of our wagons ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

About the Role:

As a Rail wagon maintenance technician, your primary mission is to ensure the operational readiness and compliance of rail wagons both on-site and at satellite locations, guaranteeing their safe travel on the mainline.

Activities and responsibilities of the Role:

  • Conduct wagon inspection in adherence to the Inspectors handbook Guidelines.
  • Document inspection finding on traffic inspection sheets
  • Preform necessary repairs based on inspection results
  • Coordinator with rail hauliers for wagon movements to repair location on-stie
  • Strategically plan welding repairs to minimise operational disruptions.
  • Communicate effectively with local management and supervisors
  • Review spare parts and component requirements
  • Measure wheel sets and provide relevant information/documentation.
  • Execute refurbishment/repairs of chocks and maintain accurate work records ensuring electronic systems are up to date with relevant data.

Additional Wheelset Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a team for wagon wheelset changes as required
  • Assist in loading/unloading wheelsets when necessary
  • Organise and coordinator wagons for maintenance tasks efficiently
  • Conduct brake tests and complete associated documentation accurately.
  • Fulfil other duties as requested by management.

Working hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday (10 hours shifts).

About you:

  • The Ideal candidate with be a certified welder with an accredited certification.
  • The ideal candidate will have possession of Personal Track Safety (PTS) certificate.
  • The Ideal candidate will be proficient in practical engineering and technical skills.
  • The ideal candidate will hold a Full UK Driving License
  • The ideal candidate will have adaptive planning skills to manage changing circumstances.
  • The ideal candidate will have effective problem-solving abilities.
  • The ideal candidate with be self-motivated and take a proactive work approach.
