RMS Recruitment are looking for a highly skilled Technical Operations Manager to lead our clients Mechanical & Bodyshop Department. 

  • Location: Killingholme
  • Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (Dependent on Experience) 
  • Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent 

About the role:

In this key leadership role, you will take responsibility for day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring high levels of quality, safety, productivity and efficiency. You will lead a team of mechanics and technicians, driving performance, adopting modern techniques and maintaining the highest technical standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership: 

  • Provide expert technical support, guidance and direction to workshop teams
  • Drive adoption of modern repair, bodywork and diagnostic techniques
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to bring new technologies into operational practice

Workshop Operations

  • Manage daily mechanical & bodyshop workflow
  • Schedule and plan work effectively to optimise capacity
  • Ensure all repairs and servicing meet time, cost and quality expectations

People & Team Development

  • Lead and develop the mechanical & bodyshop teams
  • Conduct performance reviews and build training plans
  • Maintain a strong, positive and collaborative workshop culture

Quality, Compliance & Safety

  • Implement and uphold strict quality control procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant H&S legislation and standards
  • Conduct audits, risk assessments and incident investigations

Resource & Inventory Management

  • Manage workshop tools, materials, consumables & equipment
  • Liaise with suppliers to maintain required stock levels
  • Support cost control and departmental budget management

About You:

  • Strong technical background within the automotive / mechanical repair sector
  • Previous workshop leadership and technician management experience
  • City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent in Automotive Mechanics / Light Vehicle / Repairs
  • Confident with H&S compliance and safe workshop operating standards
  • Competent in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, Outlook)
