Hireserve donates technology to power ‘The Volunteer Pool’ – a new initiative to encourage staff volunteering

Recruitment software specialist, Hireserve, has donated its ATS technology to power ‘The Volunteer Pool’, a new online platform which encourages staff volunteering.

Poole CVS and Bournemouth CVS are two charitable organisations which offer support to over 1,500 charities, voluntary and community groups. These groups are crucially important because they provide a service to over half the population across Bournemouth and Poole.

Poole CVS and Bournemouth CVS help to establish these groups, speak up on their behalf to ensure they have a say in the local community, support them to network and help them become more effective. They also help local groups to advertise volunteer opportunities and find volunteers.

The Volunteer Pool initiative was first developed by Poole and Bournemouth Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS) as they needed a more effective way to promote volunteering vacancies online. In addition, they wanted to connect with local businesses and encourage their staff to volunteer.  Hireserve worked with Poole CVS and Bournemouth CVS on a pro bono basis to turn this idea into reality.

The Volunteer Pool comprises two key elements. The first is an engaging website with intuitive role search function and professional application process for volunteer candidates. The second is the powerful applicant tracking technology, which enables Poole CVS and Bournemouth CVS to upload high volumes of volunteering vacancies and manage candidates simply and easily.

In addition to donating the ATS technology behind The Volunteer Pool, Hireserve developed the brand, designed thevolunteerpool.com website and managed the project end-to-end.

Karen Ovenden, Operations Director at Hireserve, commented:

“The whole team has got behind this project to donate our time, skills and technology. We are delighted that local charities are already uploading roles and encouraging skilled people to apply. The forward-thinking vision of Poole CVS and Bournemouth CVS will help encourage a new wave of business volunteers to donate their time to good causes.”

Chris Beale, Chief Executive of Poole CVS, added:

“The plan to develop a business volunteering platform has long been in the pipeline, but we needed to find the right technology partner to work with. Hireserve has been a true partner in every sense; not just in donating the recruitment technology but also pushing forward the project, developing the branding and launching the website. From day one the team understood our needs and have brought energy and skills to this project. We want to make it easier than ever for charities to promote their volunteering vacancies and for employers to encourage their staff to volunteer. With The Volunteer Pool, we can now do this.”
