The Role

Reporting to the Production Manager you will become an integral member of the leadership team, providing structure within the day to day supervision of people, processes, targets and quality. You will be responsible for overseeing production processes ensuring that production is maximised by full engaging your team to deliver high quality & sustainable results.

Responsibilities

Assisting the Production Manager in leading production in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment, responsibilities will be varied but include:

* Maintaining high quality standards through on-the-floor interaction with team members to ensure quality and accuracy through each step of the production process
* Utilising your leadership skills to effectively engage your team ensuring accountability and performance measures are fulfilled
* Identifying continuous, cost effective improvement opportunities; managing actions to achieve targets
* Evaluate manufacturing processes ensuring all processes follow safe, quality manufacturing practices and company procedures
* Maintenance of production schedules; working closely with Planning to agree, implement and achieve customer demand.
* Establish or adjust work procedures in order to continuously achieve production schedules
* Investigate out of standard process incidents to meet recovery and minimise repetition. Recommending measures to improve production methods and quality of product
* Managing the department safety structure and systems to meet all required legislation
* Identify skills, training and development and succession planning needed to meet organisational change demands
* Supporting the maintenance of time and attendance systems and associated processes to ensure company and team needs are appropriately considered
* Support recruitment activities to ensure consistent engagement, empowerment and retention of skills

Qualifications

* NVQ 3 or DMS in Management

Knowledge

* Engineering and manufacturing principles and activities associated to automotive manufacturing
* A solid understanding of commercial manufacturing surrounding budget, cost of production & cost per unit
* Strategic planning in order to manage fluctuations and demand
* Motiving, Interpersonal & Leadership skills
* IT skills: presentation/word/spread sheets

Experience

* 5+ years in a high volume automotive manufacturing environment

OR

* 5+ years in high volume engineering environment
* 2+ years production supervision

Hours & Package

Working between the hours of 08.00 – 17.00 this is predominantly a day shift position, however a degree of flexibility is required in order to support production demand.
