• Job Title: Supply Kitchen Manager (School Kitchen)
• Location: Darlington
• Duration: 6 weeks (interim cover)
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:15am – 1:15pm, Term Time Only (TTO)
• Rate of Pay: £14.82 P/H

We are seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to provide interim cover in a school kitchen setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous school catering experience who can step in and manage day-to-day kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, ordering, stock control, and allergen/dietary compliance (including Halal).
• Ensure high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety in line with legislation and school policies.
• Lead and supervise kitchen staff, managing rotas, absence cover, and staff development.
• Control food and staffing costs to meet departmental targets.
• Deliver meals in line with national nutritional standards and government guidelines for schools.
• Maintain and monitor kitchen equipment, cleaning, and presentation standards.
• Work with school leaders to support promotional activities and engagement with parents, visitors, and the wider community.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, and health & safety at all times.
• Undertake training and support continuous improvement of catering services.

About You:

• Prior experience in a school kitchen environment is essential.
• Strong catering background with experience in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management.
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and dietary needs.
• Ability to lead a team and work independently.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
