About the Role:

Working as a Assistant Accountant, you will provide functional support to the accountant, carrying out special tasks and projects in line with company policies and procedures.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Posting incoming payments and account statements for the assigned companies, clarifying any discrepancies.
  • Checking various daily closing protocols (e.g. changes to bank details)
  • Reconciling various bank and general ledger accounts.
  • Settling and posting term deposit accounts and interest.
  • Preparing & carrying out manual and automatic payments.
  • Recording documents and posting simple transactions.
  • Running month end age debt report.
  • Managing the accounts receivable.
  • Monitoring assigned customer accounts in terms of the amounts outstanding.
  • Identifying, analysing and processing reminders and issues requiring clarification together with the Sales Representatives.
  • Carrying out the reminder process.
  • Reporting and presenting the activities of and progress made in Collection Management and the trend in overdue receivables.
  • Analysing the causes and effects of any process interruptions (overdue payments, reduced amounts, etc.)
  • Helping to define and implement adopted improvement measures to prevent process interruptions.
  • Receipt and actioning of email payment advice notes and customer debit notes including categorizing and discrepancies, assigning and posting customer debit notes.
  • Check potential/current customers on Experian.
  • Cash Application/assigning payments.
  • Clarifying any invoice discrepancies and other posting problems with the Purchasing and Goods Receipt departments.
  • Maintaining and creating supplier master data on the system.
  • Analysing and solving problems in defined processes as part of the team of Payable Accountants (acting as the functional point of contact for other Payable Accountants) and handling defined exceptions.
  • Processing supplier reminders.
  • Creditors listing.
  • Reconciling the IC accounts.
  • Monitoring intercompany payables and receivables.
  • Formally checking, processing and, if necessary, returning incoming invoices relating to assigned company codes.
  • Processing invoices as per the account assignment guidelines.
  • Posting various incoming invoices for different companies in Germany and abroad as per the local tax legislation.
  • Monitoring and coordinating leasing matters (IFRS 16) on an ongoing basis.
  • Post new or repeat journals.

About You:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • AAT Qualified or working towards this level qualification.
