RMS Recruitment is currently seeking a Tele-handler/Crusher Operator to join the Production team with our client based in Bishop Auckland. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced plant operator to work within a busy production environment, supporting the safe and efficient production.

Location: Bishop Auckland, Co. Durham
Salary: £13.24 per hour, 20% shift allowance for late shifts and 33% shift allowance for night shifts.
Working Hours:
Rotating shift patterns of Early, Late & Night Shifts (6AM-2:30PM, 2PM-10:30PM, 10PM-6:30AM)
Contract: Temporary to Permanent position

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe operation of the tele-handler and for ensuring a consistent flow of material to the crusher and external hoppers, helping to maximise production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the tele-handler safely and in line with all company health, safety and environmental policies
  • Maintain a continuous feed of material from the crusher to the mixer by keeping internal and external hoppers full
  • Carry out daily checks on the tele-handler and associated plant machinery, reporting any defects
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards around the crusher area and factory floors
  • Keep conveyor transfer points, magnets and the crusher belt drum end clear of material and tramp metal
  • Ensure the crusher is routinely greased and maintained
  • Position and adjust the stock-piler correctly and maintain stock-pile integrity in line with company procedures
  • Support the wider production team and assist with other duties as required


About You

  • Previous experience operating a tele-handler in a production, manufacturing, quarry, recycling or industrial environment.
  • You must have a driving licence/own transport as there is no public transport to the area.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Ability to carry out basic equipment checks and routine maintenance tasks
  • Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • A positive attitude with a strong focus on safety and housekeeping
