The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has given the go-ahead to Spirit Energy Norge AS to drill within the Norwegian shelf.
The well will be drilled on the Fogelberg field, about 8 kilometres north of the Smørbukk field.
The appraisal well will be drilled under production licence 433, for which Spirit Energy AS hold a 51.7% ownership interest.
This new appraisal well will be the second well to be drilled under this licence.
The well will be will be drilled from the Island Innovator drilling rig, which is currently at quay in hot lay-up.
