A helicopter operator has said that an external seal on a window came loose during a flight to a North Sea platform.
Bristow Helicopters said the window remained in place and that none of the passengers were harmed.
The Leonardo-manufactured AW189 aircraft was on route to the Forties Charlie platform yesterday morning when the flaw was detected.
Bristow said the chopper had been removed for service so that a maintenance review can be carried out.
A Bristow spokeswoman said: “Following standard operating procedures, the crew landed safely on the platform with the window remaining in place and the aircraft was shut down for maintenance review.
“Following this review, the aircraft was granted permission to return to Aberdeen International Airport, landing safely just after 5pm without incident.
“Engineering teams are conducting a thorough review to determine maintenance actions needed to return the aircraft to service.
“An alternative aircraft was dispatched to the platform to return the inbound passengers.”
