Would-be MPs quizzed at oil and gas conference

Prospective parliamentary candidates will be put under the spotlight on their party energy policies at the Oil and Gas Industry Conference taking place in Aberdeen on Tuesday (6 June).

Four MP hopefuls are taking part in a hustings event at the conference organised by Oil & Gas UK.

Chaired by Damian Bates, Editor-In-Chief of Aberdeen Journals, the hustings will involve:

  • Callum McCaig, Scottish National Party
  • Callum O’Dwyer, Scottish Labour
  • Ross Thomson, Scottish Conservatives
  • John Waddell, Scottish Liberal Democrats

Deirdre Michie, Oil & Gas UK’s Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted that the four candidates have taken time out of campaigning – so close to the General Election – to join us at our conference.

“These are fast-changing political times and our industry will be keen to hear their views on the role that oil and gas will play in the country’s future energy mix. Support from our future Government is key to our success.”

Questions from the audience will be taken at the event or can be submitted in advance to communications@oilandgasuk.co.uk.
